Menopur & Trigger Shot Calculator

How much saline to mix, how much to draw up, and what that looks like on the syringe.

Read this first. This tool does arithmetic on numbers your clinic gave you. It does not choose your dose, your mixing amount, or your timing. Compare the mixing step and the draw amount to your written instructions. If they differ, call your clinic before you inject. Also: the “units” on an insulin syringe measure volume (100 units = 1 mL), not medication.
1 What Menopur dose were you prescribed?
IU

Each Menopur vial holds 75 IU (of FSH, plus 75 IU of LH). Use the number from your clinic’s instructions.

2 How many vials will you mix together?

3 How much saline goes in?
4 Which syringe are you using?
How the math works

Mixing the vials into a small amount of saline makes a solution with a known concentration. Dividing your dose by that concentration tells you how much liquid holds your dose.

Concentration (IU/mL) = vials × 75 ÷ saline (mL)
Draw (mL) = dose (IU) ÷ concentration (IU/mL)
Syringe units = draw (mL) × 100

Example: 225 IU needs 3 vials (225 IU). In 1 mL of saline that is 225 IU/mL, so 225 IU is 1 mL, which reads 100 units on a U-100 syringe. The label calls for using the liquid from the first vial to dissolve the rest, so the total liquid stays small.

The powder adds a tiny bit of volume, so the true concentration is a little lower than this math says. That is why, when your dose uses every vial you mixed, you draw up all of the liquid instead of trusting the line on the syringe.

Educational tool, not medical advice. It performs unit conversions and does not prescribe or adjust doses, mixing volumes, or timing. Always follow your clinic’s written instructions, and call them if anything here differs.

Based on FDA-approved labeling: Menopur (75 IU FSH and 75 IU LH per vial, mixed with 0.9% saline), Novarel and Pregnyl hCG (5,000 or 10,000 IU vials), leuprolide acetate injection (5 mg/mL), and Ovidrel PreFilled Syringe (250 mcg/0.5 mL). Results assume a U-100 insulin syringe where units are mentioned, ignore the small volume the powder adds, and do not account for air bubbles or the liquid held in the needle hub. Not for U-40 or U-500 syringes.
